Law Firm Introduction

Yunnan Zhongji Law Firm was established on March 8, 2000, originally under the name Yunnan Liu Hule Law Firm. It was founded by renowned lawyers including Wan Li and Liu Hule. In early 2021, the firm changed its name to “Zhongji” and relocated its office to Building 1, Zhongji Law Firm Building, Xifu Jingyuan, No. 730 Renmin West Road, Wuhua District, Kunming City.

The two characters “Zhong Ji” draw their meanings as follows: “Zhong” is derived from Wang Xizhi’s “Lanting Collection Preface,” where it reads, “All the worthy scholars have gathered”; “Ji” comes from Mencius’s “Chapter on Exhaustive Heartfulness—Part One,” which states, “When one achieves success, one should also bring benefit to the world.” Thus, “Zhong Ji” embodies the aspiration of “all worthy scholars gathering together and benefiting the world at large.” It carries forward the institute’s cultural tradition of like-minded individuals who eagerly seek talent, emphasizes an inclusive attitude that embraces diversity and innovation, and reflects a sense of social responsibility—shouldering moral principles with firm resolve and building the soul of the rule of law with sincere dedication.

At the same time as the name change, our firm has moved to a newly acquired office building located at No. 730 Renmin West Road, Building 1, Xifu Jingyuan, Wuhua District, Kunming City. The new office building is a standalone structure with five floors above ground and one floor below ground, boasting a total usable area of over 7,000 square meters and more than 40 underground parking spaces. Today, our firm is among the few law firms in Yunnan Province—and even fewer nationwide—that own a large-scale, independently owned office building.

A new name, a fresh look, and a new location—this marks the beginning of a new journey. In its spatial design, the Zhongji Office Building exudes the noble demeanor of a gentleman: profound heritage, solid stability, and an open-minded humility. To our employees, it fosters a sense of belonging characterized by self-improvement, moral integrity, and warm inclusiveness. To society at large, it embodies the spirit of “virtue as water,” honesty and trustworthiness, and a strong sense of responsibility and dedication to one’s work. Rising proudly on the western side of the “City of Spring” as a landmark, this modern building—spanning over 7,000 square meters—serves as a warm harbor for all Zhongji people. Here, we will continue to set sail once again and bravely ride the waves ahead.

After more than two decades of steady and robust development, our firm has assembled a professional team primarily composed of mid- and young-aged lawyers—highly skilled and renowned within China’s legal services sector. We place great emphasis on the professionalization of our legal services; many of our lawyers hold specialized technical titles or qualifications in fields such as engineering, medicine, certified public accounting, certified tax advising, securities practice, and futures trading.
